No rain will stop us from enjoying quiz! That was pretty much how it felt last night. Sure, outside was a little soggy from the afternoon's downpour, but it was still a perfect night for quizzing.

We started off with our Mystery Round (It was Dancing). Knowing the mystery the whole time, I couldn't help but visualizing Shwarzenegger doing the running man, Oliver Twist doing the twist and less so, Will Smith doing the Robot (I'm pretty sure he actually did that during Fresh Prince a good dozen or so times). Our music round made Tyler and I sad with your lack of musical skills. It's beyond us how so many of you mistook Talking Heads for The Clash. Huh? Buh? Whuh?? We made those sounds while scoring.

Our Muppet Babies round was pretty well met. Sadly, no babyfied Swedish Chef was to be found. Also, Muppet's Take Manhattan was fantastic. Just sayin'. Our Golden round number four was filled wholesome things like Punky Brewster and Grandpa Joe, but also more unsavory items like pro-slavery unions and golden showers (sorry, not my thing). FYI - I assumed last night. I don't actually know Karl's take on watersports as an after work activity.

Our round five was just like six degrees of Kevin Bacon. Actually, we could have easily switched Sean Penn for Kevin Bacon and made it work, but we decided to give him a rest. He's probably way busy with Beauty Shop 2. From there it went to some anagrams. Yes, I purposely save these major thinking rounds until after you're good and drunk. Still, that didn't stop most of you from doing incredibly well. I'll remember to make it harder next time.

Round 7 featured some sweet movie music. Cruel Intentions had a way better soundtrack than the movie. And The Crow? I still don't get it. Finally we came upon our last round, Random Knowledge. We learned that no one cares about Lorna Luft (YOU weren't in Arrested Development), that there are different types of cherries, and Network is still an amazing movie. Remember how in 1998 you couldn't go anywhere in public without hearing "Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls? To say that song got overplayed that summer is an understatement, at the very least. Who do I blame for that song's complete media dominance for almost an entire year? Not the band. That's too easy. I blame "City of Angels." I blame Nicolas Cage, Meg Ryan, and even Dennis Franz (who, consequently, never appeared in another film after "City of Angels"). The soundtrack for that film spawned "Iris" as well as Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited". These are crimes against humanity, people. When I learned that one of last night's rounds involved soundtracks to late 90's films, I knew I would have to play those songs. It was inescapable.

In all seriousness, last night's quiz was a lot of fun. I took many more pictures than I normally do, so I'll let those speak instead of my lengthy recaps. I also gave away an e-mail bonus prize that I've been hoarding away for 14 years, aging to perfection. Bask in its glory.

See, I enjoyed The Crow. The problem I have with the film is the same problem I have with The Cruxshadows, Invader Zim, Magic: The Gathering, and atheism: pretty much anyone else that likes it is a cool kid ass stabber.

I see the same sort of annoying fanbase with Twilight that I did with The Crow growing up, except Twilight is a supermassive black hole that doesn't just suck in one or two demographics like The Crow did. Twilight unites the tasteless from all walks of life into one colossal dumbshit Megazord of fail.

WITH THAT BEING SAID, I never liked Twilight, but I loved The Crow and the fact that someone confused it's soundtrack for that of Twilight's (which wasn't in the 90's) pretty much killed something inside of me

It was a quiet quiz tonight at 4580. We didn’t have a lot of competition but that didn’t keep you guys from taking the quiz seriously. This is admirable, my little quizlings. This is only our second week of quiz at 4580 so I hope that more and more people come. (If you come I’ll dance for you- no really, I will) Anyway, round one was our Mystery Round, if you knew all the answers you would’ve noticed a dance theme. Many of you remembered that The Jerk was Steve Martin’s first starring role, but only one of you thought of Fox Trot. I’ll admit, I’m quite fond of the strip, I think you guys are missing out.

Round two was Nothing’s More Punk Than Time Life - which was a favorite of mine. All this songs were taken from the compilation Time Life: Sounds of the Seventies- Punk and New Wave. Most of you got Patti Smith and The Sex Pistols, but only one of you got Television. Seriously, they might be the greatest guitar band ever. Go get Marquee Moon, right now!! The title track will make you lose your shit. I think Ian Dury is getting his own biopic soon with that Gollum guy. Round Three was a speed round on The Muppet Babies, and that took me back. I watched that show religiously as a child. That show on dvd yet? Anyway, you guys did just fine. Louie Louie got a perfect score for that round. Round four was Worth it’s Weight in Gold, and it could’ve gone better. None of you thought of Havana as a Caribbean city and I don’t think any one you remembered Brandon, the dog from Punky Brewster. Sad. But all of you knew what a golden shower was, not sure if you should be proud of that.

The Connect the Stars visual round went well, you guys could sure connect Dana Carvey to Sean Penn. Round six was a bit of a challenge, but you guys were up to it. Anagrams may have slowed you down, but all of you figured out Talking Heads and that “The Eyes”- they see! It was fun to see you guys really putting your brains to work. By the way, is Kyoto where anagram lovers go instead of Tokyo?

Round seven was Movie Music Mash-Up where I played a snippets from a few songs featured in a film’s soundtrack. I remember Cruel Intentions having a cool soundtrack when it came out. It had the only Counting Crows song I could stand. Nobody remembered the songs from The Crow. If Brandon Lee hadn’t been killed, would that film had had the following it has today? I don’t really think so. Round eight’s Random Knowledge taught us that Lorna Luft is Liza’s half-sister and what FDIC stands for. Too bad none of you knew about Network. That film really needs to be re-discovered. Here are the winners:

I had something happen tonight that never has happened before in my entire Geeks career...wait, can I call it a career? I don't think so, but I'll continue. No, it wasn't having to get the drunk boy back to his drunk boy pack - it was a three-way tie for first place! When does that happen? Never! It came down to Tits On The Bar, Thank God The John Wilkes Booths Are Back! and Osmotic Frisbee. And in the end it ended in that order. Tits came in first! When don't they is the real question.

Man, bulldog was packed to the rafters. Mostly due to an odd wake type affair for a recently departed grandma named Hilda.
