Quiz Schedule
Tuesday nights at Luke's Icehouse in Beaumont, Texas
Robbi (Plucky, Robbizombie)

I'm a quiz mistress with a dash of sass.  I'm endowed with the gift of gab.  Add a microphone and an ice cold Lone Star and it's a recipe for quizzing madness!  I'm proud to be the original Quiz Master for Southeast Texas and I look forward to meeting all of you.  For fun I like training roller girls and poking dead stuff with sticks.  Come on out to the most fun you can have on a Tuesday.  Bring a friend, you're going to need one!

Beautiful new courtyard developments are happening at Luke's Beaumont!  Unfortunately, this brings about a few technical difficulties along the way.  I know it forced a good many of you to sit closer to me... but that's ok.  I like to see your smiling faces.

Round 1: Eek!... All answers rhyme with that syllable.  American Horror Story Freak Show is so good!  I haven't found a single season of that show that I haven't liked though.  You guys know me, I'm kinda creepy.  Is it just me, or does the song Cheek To Cheek always make you think of the Green Mile?  Round 2: G-G-Ghost!... name the song that mentions a haunting.  I found it quite ironic that right before I played Wish You Were Here, there was a guy with a Pink Floyd shirt walking around.  I stand by my statement that Juggalos frighten me.  They may be the only thing that I am legitimately scared of.  Round 3: Sooner or Later: Character Assasination... a possible double point round.  This was not an easy round for the most of you.  There were some sort of obscure actors named.  Most people have seen Danny Trejo, but couldn't name him.  Lance Henriksen is another that I'm ashamed to say that I was familiar with the name but had to look him up to get a picture of him.  Round 4: Two-For-One Costume Sale... the dreaded before and after round.  This round went smoother than I predicted.  I think making the Wheel Of Fortune reference helped.  There was some really clever writing here.  Even if you don't like these rounds, you must admit that.  Al Frankenweenie... hehee.

Round 5: Nazi Round You Might Be Expecting... name these movie Nazis.  Great movies show up here.  Inglorious Basterds is so great and Sound of Music is my go to movie on a gloomy day.  I believe we've already talked about how great the Blues Brothers are.  Round 6: Disses and Diseases.  Gordon Ramsey is a total jerk.  Proof that some people like being abused.  How many shows is he doing now?  Data really does display lots of characteristics that are found on the Autism-spectrum.  Little known fact, Brent Spiner also has a beautiful singing voice.  Round 7: Top Ten Ways to Get Someone Else to Do Your Job for a Couple Minutes... name the celebrity reading his or her own Top Ten on "The Late Show."  Barry White could sound sexy reading a grocery list.  Betty White, while not necessarily sexy, is totally my hero.  I would also personally believe that Tom Cruise sleeps upside down in a bat-like harness.  Round 8: Random Knowledge.  Have any of you ever heard of Baja Fresh?  I hadn't until quiz time.  The Dune books are on my re-read list.  Unfortunately, that's a very long list.  This was a pretty good round for most of you.

So glad to see all of you again tonight.  Glad that you enjoyed the Halloween playlist.  Once again, the band that most of you asked me about was Here Come the Mummies.  Look them up.  You owe it to yourself.  After the quiz smoke cleared, The Cunning Linguists were victorious.  Professors took second and All Good Cardinals Hitters Join the Angels took third.  I hope that you have as much fun with this game as I do.  I can't wait to see you all next week.  Until next time my quiz bunnies... feed my Frankenstein.

  Robbi xoxo

It was with a bit of trepidation that I approached Luke's last night.  I was worried that was going to be a zoo of baseball fans.  I was positive that I would never find a parking space.  Not true!  It was completely manageable, I would even venture to say fun.  Here's how the quiz went.

Round 1: Just Say No... All the answers begin with the letters NO.  You guys were great out of the gate!  Way to go.  Lots of perfect scores on this round.  Round 2: Gatsby's Greatest Hits... name the titles and original artists for these covers by Scott Bradlee and Postmodern Jukebox.  This was such a fun round.... that you guys hated.  I loved the cover of Creep.  It sounded great.  I nearly deducted a point for everyone who knew Nickelback.  I hate those guys.  Round 3: This Whole Round Is Out Of Order... Is it from Atticus Finch's closing statement in "To Kill A Mockingbird," or Johnnie Cochran's in the OJ case?  After this round, I would almost accuse Cochran of plagiarism.  I never realized how much they sound alike.  I could have sworn it was Gregory Peck who said the immortal line, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit."  Round 4: Black and White... a round on things that are just that.  Wow.  I had a smart group of quiz bunnies tonight.  Another really decent round for most.  Another question about Harper Lee, well kind of.  Way to go.

Round 5: Blank and the Fatman... name these movie duos that are not proportionate.  Blues Brothers is such a classic.  That movie never gets old for me.  I would have never gotten the Batman Returns picture.  That was a bit obscure.  Round 6: Rhodesia Doesn't Live Here Anymore... a round on defunct countries and names.  As long as I have been a fan of Queen, I never realized that Freddie Mercury was from Zanzibar.  Odd.  Round 7: Time to Light the Lights, Bitch... a round of audio clips from Muppet show.  I would have KILLED this round.  The Vincent Price episode is always one of my favorites this time of year.  And the premise behind the Cleese episode is truly genius.  Round 8: Random Knowledge... everyone's favorite.  Most frequently missed question of the round was the first alphabetic band to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  I was looking for ABBA, not AC/DC.

After a quick tie-breaking question, the top three were...Wall Of Voodoo, ISIS ISIS Baby, and My Pleasure.  It was a fun night and lots of good scores.  I was so happy to see such a great turnout again this week.  Now that my batteries are recharged, I'm ready for whatever the rest of this week can throw at me.  I hope that you are too.  Until next time my quiz bunnies... shake it like a Polaroid picture.

Three team names talking about Ebola?  I can tell what's on your minds.  Don't buy into the hysteria!  Stay away from poo!

Round 1: Trick or Treat... all of the answers are names of candy.  Mmmm... candy.  I love candy.  I also love Diane Keaton in Looking for Mr. Goodbar.  That was a seriously tough bonus though.  Starburst, that is all.  Round 2: Eight Songs, Twelve Answers... Didn't make much sense at first, but you guys caught on.  A big shout out to Wall of Voodoo for getting a perfect score and jokering that round.  That's quizzing smarter, not harder.  Good job.  Round 3: This World Ain't Big Enough For the Both of Us... for each pair, just tell me if they ever lived at the same time.  Yes or no.  Simple as that.  I love the joke about fast car enthusiasts.  Think I'm sick all you want.  Round 4: Brews Clues... given a specific craft beer and a context clue, can you name the brewery?  Yes you can!  For the most part this was a great round.  I can definitely tell that you guys are a good mix of geek and drink.

Round 5: Crossing Over... name both tv shows that are pictured.  I must have missed that episode of Community.  I have to confess that sometimes when I am feeling down I enjoy watching Murder She Wrote with my 15 cats.  Don't judge me.  Round 6; Recently In Stuff... a round on current events.  From Penelope Cruz to Ebola, you guys always rock this round.  You never disappoint me.  Round 7: Decades of Stuff: '88, '98, and '08... not very popular.  I tried reading the clues each way because I have had requests for both.  I'm looking forward to getting some feedback on which one you prefer.  Round 8: Random Knowledge.  This is always a redeeming round for me.  Somehow, no matter how angry you are after round 7, round 8 makes you love me again.

Beautiful weather and a great turnout make for a rocking quiz night!  Can't wait to do it all again.  You all make my day job bearable.  My top three teams tonight were all old school teams.  Made me nostalgic.  Congratulations to Wall of Voodoo for winning!  Second and third place were taken by Professors and Stammtisch.  Have a great week you guys and I'll see you next Tuesday.  Until then my quiz bunnies... never trust a big butt and a smile.

  Robbi xoxo
