Quiz Schedule
Tuesday nights at Luke's Icehouse in Beaumont, Texas
Robbi (Plucky, Robbizombie)

I'm a quiz mistress with a dash of sass.  I'm endowed with the gift of gab.  Add a microphone and an ice cold Lone Star and it's a recipe for quizzing madness!  I'm proud to be the original Quiz Master for Southeast Texas and I look forward to meeting all of you.  For fun I like training roller girls and poking dead stuff with sticks.  Come on out to the most fun you can have on a Tuesday.  Bring a friend, you're going to need one!

We find ourselves in that familiar situation... you, me and the blog.  Hope that your day is going smashingly.  I know the quiz did last night.  You guys are such a fun group.  I'm so lucky to do what I do.  Now let's talk about that quiz.

Round 1: PlutOh No You Didn't... P-L-U-T-O have to be in the answers.  Maybe not in that order, but trust me, they're in there.  Zaire is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Think of how much harder that is for the school kids to learn.  Seems unfair.  I still love the South Park movie.  I actually faked an illness at work to go and catch the premiere.  True story.  Round 2: Sunshine Samples... Flo Rida, Trick Daddy, and Pitbull: three Florida rappers who have ruined your favorite songs!  Name the original title and artist.  All Night Long was pretty hard to get.  Oh Yeah always makes me think of Ferris Bueller's Day Off.  Hilarious stuff.  Round 3: Austria or Australia... I'll give you some facts and you tell me if they're true of Hitler's birthplace or the land where men plunder and/or chunder.  I'm not really positive of what a Quoll is.  I need to look that up.  Round 4: Better Living Through Fake Chemistry... answer these questions about fictional substances.  Who knew about pink kryptonite??  That's a new one for me.  Thank you to all of you that knew Dr. Strangelove.  I love Kubrick.

Round 5: Death in the Ring... even though wrestling superstar The Undertaker turns 50 this week, he can still kill 'em on the mats.  Name these fictional wrestlers he's gonna take down.  The Wrestler is a phenomenal movie!  Mickey Rourke truly amazed me!  Check it out.  I hope you did as well as my ten year old did.  Round 6: Always Wear a Helmet, Kids... a round about all the horrible things that can go wrong in your brain.  Gollum has schizoid personality disorder?  Shocking, I know.  Just drink your kool-aid and follow me.  Round 7: Marley and You... name the movie or show with canine death.  You could almost hear crickets during this round.  Sigh.  I'm Debbie Downer once again.  Sorry.  But the scene from National Lampoon's Vacation is still hilarious.  Almost as funny as when Aunt Edna dies.  Round 8: Random Knowledge.  Joseph Stalin was an editor for a newspaper.  I'm sure there was really honest reporters then.  It would be like letting Kim Jong Un edit the paper.... oh wait, he does.  Cool World was an amazing film back in the day.  Kim Bassinger should never act again though.

So, Wall of Voodoo pretty much stayed to the top of the leader board all night long.  (All night.  All night.)  What's So Funny took second.  I'm Not Gay, But $20 Is $20 rounded out the top three.  Thank you guys for making my night an amazing one.  I truly look forward to seeing you each week.  Until next week my quiz bunnies... push it real good.

  Robbi xoxo

Wow!  Look at all the people!!  I guess it's true that St. Patrick's Day makes everyone Irish.  I can't remember the last time that I had to swim through folks to get to the bar.  Maybe we created some new quiz bunnies tonight.

Round 1: Bite Me... a round about snakes.  I love Copperhead Road.  It appeals to my inner country girl.  I haven't seen the live action GI Joe movies, but apparently most of you have.  Nice, strong opening round.  Round 2: Sue Me... with the "Blurred Lines" suit solved, name these other tunes involved in lawsuits.  Higher scores this round as well.  Nicely done you guys.  I had no idea that Radiohead was ever involved in a lawsuit.  But I'm not surprised that Kanye Wesr was.  That guy sucks at life.  Round 3: Who's In Charge Here... your choices of answers are C, E, or O.  The Story Of O was the erotic novel that I was looking for.  The "E" in Mega Man stood for energy.  Makes sense now doesn't it?  Round 4: Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment... a round about people, places, and thing that have had unfortunate run-ins with electricity.  I love the Ramones!  This round is where the scores really started to shift.  In 2013 an inmate in Virginia requested the electric chair?!?  Seriously?  That seems like a terrible way to go.

Round 5: Let's Make Fun of Kettles... match the culture to its ancient pottery/clay-work.  Pretty good round for most folks.  These seem pretty straight forward.  Round 6: A Round for Exactly One Person in the Bar... a round on Libertarianism.  Judging by the stunned looks on some of your faces, I'm not sure there was even one Libertarian in the crowd.  Penn and Teller are both Libertarian?  I can't really say that I am shocked.  We even got to talk about a masturbation euphemism.  Sounds like a good round to me.  Round 7: The Feel-Meh Movie of the Year... name the movie being synopsized by the Honest Trailers YouTube people.  I know that this round was difficult to hear.  Thanks for hanging in there and not panicking.  Round 8: Random Knowledge.  Canada's national animals are a beaver and a horse?  Seems kinda sad.  Buddy Holly fronted the first all white band to play the Apollo Theater.  Geez, this round really was random!

I owe a huge thank you to Luke's for having enough faith in me to let me go ahead and host the quiz, despite the madness.  I love my venue.  Besides a few hiccups, I think that overall, it went really well.  What's So Funny About Whiskey Dick sweeps the quiz!!  They won by 19 points!  Great job!  Eharmony is like a box of chocolates took second place.  I sure wish Tom could have been there to see it.  IRA took third.  All the teams fought, played, and drank hard.  I couldn't be more proud.  Until next time my quiz bunnies... I want you to notice, when I'm not around, you're so f*ckin special.

Our first really pretty night in a while and I can tell you were all ready to enjoy it.  Me too.  It was so great to have all of you out.  Let's recap this quiz.

Round 1: D-ography... name the place that starts with D.  I honestly don't know what the scary-ass horse in the airport reference means.  I've never been to Denver.  I'll have to research it.  Round 2: That Train Guy Ruins Everything... give me the titles and original artists for these songs being covered by Pat Monahan and/or his terrible band.  I think my ears are still bleeding from the Doors cover.  Don't mess with Jim Morrison's stuff.  I take it very seriously.  Just don't do it.  It makes me sad.  Round 3: Keep Your Thing To Yourself... tell me if I'm talking about The Thing from Fantastic Four, or some other thing that is called Thing.  Hooray for the Addams Family references!!  I love that show.  Not as much of a fan of the movies, but the tv show was amazing.  Who knew The Ever Lovin' Blue Eyed Thing was Jewish??  Not me.  Round 4: The Other National Pastime... a round about blowing shit up.  I didn't know that Sinatra was part owner of the Sands.  What I would have given to go to Vegas in its prime.  Wow.  That would have been an adventure.

Round 5: Isaac Newton Did Not Approve This Round.  So many great films popped up here.  Did any of you get to see Birdman?  I hear that it's wonderful.  Can't wait to catch it on dvd.  Round 6: The Mile High Club... a round on marijuana, the Mile-High tower, and the stupid sex club.  Autopilot would make the mile high club much more attainable.  I would hate to think of the consequences for someone who tried it before that invention.  Round 7: Royal Academy of What Now?... name the movie or show with an American actor doing a varying-degrees-of-passable English accent.  I thought Robert Downey Jr. did a decent job in Sherlock Holmes.  I know that this was a tough round for most of you.  If the actual British guy from quiz night can't understand most of them.  What hope do we Southerners have?  Shakespeare in Love will forever be one of my favorite films.  Just amazing.  Round 8: Random Knowledge.  Good job on the dwarf questions.  I was surprised that more of you didn't know the song that Huckleberry Hound sang.

What's So Funny About Racial Slurs took the champagne.  They dominated the scores for most of the night.  Wall Of Voodoo took second place.  Apathetic Flamethrowers took third.  Way to go you guys.  I can't wait to see you all next week.  Until then my quiz bunnies... keep the bugs off your glass and the bears off your... tail.

  Robbi xoxo
